Shadow Box

After 3 and 1/2 years, I finally got around to finishing up my daughter's newborn shadow box.
I used an 11 x 14 shadow box frame that I got from Michael's. Looking back, I think a square box would have worked better so that it would give me more room on the left and right side. The onesie takes up most of the room, and I found it a little difficult fitting everything in the box. Regardless, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

This is what I used in my shadow box:

- Footprints (I brought a piece of scrapbook paper to the hospital. The nurses will stamp your baby's footprint. Hopefully your nurse will put left foot on left, and right on right side)
- Onesie
- Hospital Hat
- Hosptial Bracelet
- Name card from hospital crib
- New Baby Announcement card
- "It's A Girl" heart was recycled from one of the cards I received.
- Pins

Diaper Cakes

My best friend made this awesome diaper motorcycle. My husband loves bikes and was especially impressed by the gift. I love home made gifts because you know they put their time into the gift, and time is something money can't buy.

I don't want to take it apart!!

What homemade gifts have you recieved/given?

Diaper Bag

Just received my new diaper bag from pottery barn kids and I love it!! The quality is really nice and it's a neutral enough bag that hubby won't mind carrying it for me. It was incredibly hard to find a cute diaper bag that didn't have an annoying print. Best part is it was under $150! I'm a little annoyed that the embroidery is off center but I can deal with it. I desperately need a diaper bag and I don't want to return it and wait for a new one.

Sorry for the upside down photo. I don't know how to rotate it!

Here is the link if you'd like to purchase. They have quite a few cute bags in different colors.

New Spring Bag

It's that time of the year again. Time to switch to a new bag for the spring.
Of course my bag wish list is super long, but there are two bags I'm seriously considering buying.

Elizabeth & James Cynnie Sling Bag $545
I'm seeing backpacks everywhere! I love this bag because you can wear it as a backpack or a shoulder bag. I haven't seen it in person yet so not sure how easy it is to get things in and out of the bag. This is more in my price range, though I am not sure if it will still be in next year.

LV Pallas Bag $2490
I love this bag, but definitely a bit more pricey. The good thing is it's a classic design that I know I'll use for many years. It can easily go from spring to fall. The bag comes is different pop colors. I think the purple is so pretty, but makes it feel more fall. I would go with the brown one in the front.

So what does your spring bag look like? Is there something you are eyeing this season?

Nail stamping

After several tries, I finally got the nail stamping thing to work. Not the prettiest color combo or paint job but at least it worked!

Tall Boots for Tall People

I've been dying to get a pair of Over-The-Knee boots for years now. However, I always have two problems standing in my way. 1. fat calves 2. finding OTK books that actually go over my knee. I'm pretty tall, 5'9 but I still found it odd that more designers didn't make taller boots for us tall girls!

Thankfully there seems to be other girls with issue #1, almost all shoe sites have a filter option for "extended calf." It was finding tall OTK boots that were tall enough that was the biggest issue.

One day, while strolling through bloomies, I came across a beautiful pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs OTK boots. They looked tall enough, and though they were not "extended calf," they looked roomy enough to fit my sausage legs in.

I tried them on and voila!! they actually fit and they were over my knee! I was so excited, i didn't even look at the price and went right up to the register to buy them. A little sticker shock as they were $598, and with bloomies F&F, it still came out to $500 bucks. OOps! But you know what, they are the best darn investment I ever made, and a true staple for my fall/winter wardrobe. What's even better is that they are not sold as wide calf boots so it gave me a boost of confidence that my working out was paying off. who knows, but either way I LOVE THEM! No longer on the bloomies site but on sale at Nieman's for $300. Darn, I could have used that extra $200 for something else.

Camo

A definite item on my fall must have list is Camo Pants! I've been seeing them everywhere. Not only do I love printed pants, but I love that camo print gives that extra bit of edge to an otherwise ordinary outfit.

My only qualm is that I'm not quite sure I can make them "wear to work" appropriate. :(

Here are some of my favorite camo looks. One thing they all have in common besides the camo pants, is a pair of awesome heels to go with the pants.

So now the decision is, which one should I buy? Both are great options for under $100.
